This is a seedling of the
				species, H. ventricosa, that was
originated by
Gladys Holly of Wisconsin and registered on her behalf by
The American Hosta Society in 1986. It forms a large size (23 inches high
by 41 inches wide) mound that has shiny, dark green leaves
				typical of those with
				H. ventricosa in their background. The
flowers are bell-shaped, purple and appear in mid-summer
followed by viable seeds. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...found this to be a triploid which usually
indicates a low level of fertility. It, however, was a great
				source of seedlings for
Herb Benedict and other hybridizers when
				a target="_blank" href="../../care/Propagation/Hosta-propagation-seeds.htm">selfed."
