This cultivar has been around for a very long time and was registered by Frances Williams of Massachusetts in 1986. It was the result of a cross of Hosta sieboldii x H. plantaginea that was done in 1948. 'Slim Polly' grows into a small size hosta about 6 inches high with a spread of around 15 inches wide with elliptic shaped leaves that are smooth textured and have thin substance. The medium purple flowers bloom in late August.
