			 This non-registered
cultivar from Japan forms a small size mound with narrow, dark green
foliage. The leaves are elliptic when young and lanceolate at maturity. Medium purple
flowers bloom from late July into August. This cultivar was mentioned in The New Encyclopedia of Hostas.
There is another cultivar named H. 'Aoba Komachi' which is also known as H. 'Aoba
						Tsugaru'.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,

A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term aoba
as green leaf and the term komachi as a beauty or a belle.

An article by Warren I. Pollock in
			The
Hosta Journal (2008 Vol. 39 No. 2) quotes
W. George Schmid: "H. 'Tsugaru Komachi' ('The Little Maiden from Tsugaru')...is variegated
but unstable. Though [the green form] is most commonly known by 'Aoba Komachi' [Ao
means "green" and Aoba means green leaf], this name may not be specific
enough because there are other all-green hostas that look just like the
reverted, green form of 'Tsugaru Komachi'...My opinion is it should be 'Aoba Tsugaru Komanchi' to indicate it is specifically the green reversion of 'Tsugaru Komachi'."
